Purpose

The world is facing serious sustainability challenges and organisations often don't have access to the right information in a ready-to-use format to manage these challenges. 

We want to make existing data and research accessible to inform decision-making with regard to sustainability challenges. We work with a collective of research associates who are experts in their fields and pair them with young academics to support the delivery of project work. We also support researchers with project management and communication, allowing researchers to supervise the project and ensure quality.

Research synthesis

Produce policy briefs, reports, presentations, literature reviews, etc.

For example: Foreign investment in Southern Africa

Explore the current foreign direct investment in sectors such as mining and agriculture, and how these square up with investments in biodiversity conservation.

This project includes building a database of existing foreign direct investment and synthesising investment research that will inform a natural capital accounting tool.

Science communication

Create striking visuals to communicate knowledge simply, yet effectively.

For example: Doughnut Economic Down Scaling

Work with The Green Connection to develop a set of indicators using the Doughnut Economic Framework that accounts for important environmental and social indicators in Saldanha Bay Municipality.

The project includes identifying environmental and social challenges from existing data that is used to represent the key challenges in a single illustration. 

Facilitation & learning

Facilitate dialogues  to gather knowledge and communicate outcomes.

For example: Round table discussion to identify priority biomes

Identify regions that have a high susceptibility to climate-related impacts in South Africa for the Netherlands Embassy.

The process included a literature review, roundtable discussions, and final report with recommendations. The roundtable discussion with experts was key to identifying the most important threats.

Project support

Manage project tasks, timelines, and administration and undertake research legwork.

Project support is part of the core offering.

We provide a holding space for research projects and offer value-added services to researchers, including project management, administration and legwork of the research.
